Kyle Verreynne's unbeaten 77* and Wiaan Mulder's maiden Test fifty of 54 have put South Africa in firm control on Day 2 of the first Test against Bangladesh at the Shere Bangla Stadium, Dhaka. The duo’s 119-run stand for the seventh wicket helped the visitors gain a substantial lead, closing at 243/8 at lunch, 137 runs ahead.

South Africa, who bowled out Bangladesh for a mere 106 on the opening day, found themselves in trouble at 108/6. However, Verreynne and Mulder’s composed partnership stabilized the innings and propelled South Africa towards a strong position.

Verreynne's attacking approach, featuring well-timed sweeps against Bangladesh’s spinners, provided South Africa with crucial runs in the morning session. Mulder, adopting a more traditional approach, displayed patience and control, registering his maiden Test half-century before falling for 54.

Bangladesh’s Taijul Islam claimed five wickets, but their inability to break the Verreynne-Mulder partnership early allowed South Africa to establish control. Hasan Mahmud provided a brief breakthrough, dismissing both Mulder and Keshav Maharaj in quick succession, but Verreynne’s calm presence ensured South Africa continued to pile on the runs.

With a 137-run lead, South Africa now hold the upper hand as Bangladesh aim to make a strong comeback. Stay updated with the latest Reddy Anna match predictions as the contest unfolds.
